When Asith is kidnapped by a dragon, his only chance of survival becomes befriending his captor, but as he gets to know the dragon Dradevai, his feelings for them begin to bud. While their feelings grow and the two get closer, the dragon hunters appear, threatening Dradevai and revealing a secret buried in the bowels of Asith's home country of Cairn. The two embark on adventure together to uncover these secrets and to hopefully find Asith's estranged father while they're at it. 

After returning to the Graveyard Trees without Dradevai, Asith finds himself in a cycle of loss and confusion. While his father tries to draw him out of his depression, Asith stumbles into the arcane in hopes of finding Dradevai. Instead, he is set on a path by the goddess of magic herself. It comes with lofty expectations, but also the promise it will lead him back to Dradevai. Along the way, he gathers allies and finds himself in the midst of a fight to protect the dragons harmed by the mages of Cairn.
